||||||||||||
I. Alliance Background Date Signed October 15, 2004 Overview This Alliance establishes an agreement between parties to provide AGC members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to fall, electrocution, struck by, caught in and construction amputation hazards. Training and education:
Evaluation Period 10/15/2005 – 10/27/2006 II. Implementation Team Meetings Quarterly contacts are made electronically. The first meeting of this period was held in person, on December 14, to meet with the new AGC Executive Director, Jean Petsch. She indicated that she was interested in the possibility of continuing the Alliance but was in the process of strategic planning for the Association. AGC is interested in the development of a 10-Hour Outreach program that can be offered on the AGC website. OSHA provided Ms. Petsch with contact information for the Office of Training and Education, as well as information about other on-line outreach program offerings. III. Events and Products Training and Education AGC member safety directors participated in the initial OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach training program presented to students of the Omaha Public Schools – Construction Academy. The National AGC is one of the sponsors of this "Academy" and the OPS program is one of eight such programs being administered nation-wide. Eighteen junior class Construction Academy students received their 10-Hour OSHA Outreach completion card following the presentation of this program. OSHA compliance officers also presented technical training (2 sessions) to approximately 70 construction safety directors who meet semi-annually as part of an AGC – Construction Safety Directors educational program. These day-long sessions give the safety directors an opportunity for continuing education on a variety of safety and business related topics. OSHA provided training on fall protection, construction fatalities, most frequently cited OSHA construction standards, and emerging issues affecting the construction industry. IV. Results
IV. Upcoming Milestones The AGC Alliance was scheduled to expire on 10/12/2006. Due to time and resource constraints on the part of all participants, the Alliance was allowed to expire. The semi-annual presentations to the Construction Safety Directors Conference will continue as will the OPS – Construction Academy training program. |
