    Alliance Overview.
    • Develop training and education programs on health and safety issues to improve business awareness of OSHA regulations, safety and health management systems, and cooperative programs.
       
    • Deliver or arrange for the delivery of safety and health courses for employees and supervisors working in the various areas covered by this alliance.
       
    • Improve the safety and health performance of employers that receive outreach, training, or other assistance services (i.e., mentoring, on-site consultation, hazard identification).

  3. Activities and Products

    Evaluation Period.

    This evaluation covers OSHA’s 2008 fiscal year, October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008.

    Alliance Activity.
    • Training and Education – Numerous training sessions were held for attendees of WCS training programs.
    • Four four-hour sessions on Part 1904, Recordkeeping,12/5/07, 3/6/08, 5/20/08 and 9/23/08 (Leslie Ptak, CAS)
    • Three four-hour sessions on NFPA 70E on 11/8/07, 2/19/08 and 6/19/08 (Patrick Ostrenga, CAS)
    • Two four-hour sessions on combustible dust hazards on 8/21/08 and 8/26/08 (Galen Lemke, AAD and Mary Bauer, CAS)
    • One day long session on Process Safety Management on 1/16/08 (George Yoksas, AD)
    • 20 different programs from a Susan Harwood grant on Identifying and Controlling Hazards to Social Service workers (many OSHA CASs and others) on at least 20 dates.
    • One NFPA 70E class at the Annual NFPA 70E Implementation Conference/Expo on 9/29 and30/08 (Patrick Ostrenga, CAS)
    • One presentation at the Ergonomics Conference and Exposition on October 29/07 (Dana Root, REC)
    • Co-hosted the Winter Safety and Health Conference and Exposition on January 30, 2008 (Mary Bauer, CAS)
    • One presentation each at the Annual Autumn Safety and Health Conference and Exposition on September 9, 2008 (Mel Lischefski, Area Director)
    • One presentation at the "Best Practices in Occupational Safety Conference and Exposition" in Racine (Milwaukee area office).
    • One presentation each at the Food Processors Safety Conference and Exposition on 2/26/2008 (Leslie Ptak, CAS)
    • One professional development course on NFPA 70E on 4/28/08 (Patrick Ostrenga, CAS).
    • One day long best practices conference, "Construction Safety Leadership Conference" 12/18/2007 (Leslie Ptak, CAS)
    • Compliance staff contributed to many programs at the WCS Congress and Exposition 4/29 & 30/08:

      • The OSHA offices contribute articles to WSC’s monthly newsletter.
      • WSC distributes Wisconsin OSHA’s three newsletters to its membership: Construction, General Industry and Compliance Assistance
      • WSC consults with Wisconsin OSHA on the design and selection of course topics.
      • WSC consults with Wisconsin OSHA on the selection of their Hall of Fame, Leadership and Corporate Safety Awards.
      • WSC and OSHA partner to promote OSHA’s VPP programs.
      • Wisconsin OSHA and Wisconsin Consultation members participate in WSC Committees:
        • Member of WSC Advisory Committee (George Gruetzmacher, Health Consultant)
        • Member Congress Planning Committee (George Gruetzmacher, Health Consultant and Terry Moen, alternate)
        • Member Occupational Safety Professional Subcommittee (George Gruetzmacher, Health Consultant and Terry Moen, alternate)
