Overview

OSHA, Lamar and Georgia Tech hereby form an Alliance to provide Lamar employees and others in the outdoor advertising industry with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to fall, electrical, struck by and trenching hazards, as well as hazards related to the operation of aerial lifts.

II. Implementation Team and Contributors:

Representatives from OSHA, Lamar and Georgia Tech conducted all required quarterly meeting by teleconferencing, formal meetings and training sessions on the following dates: 8/18/05, 11/7/05 and 12/14/05

Evaluation Period:

July 28, 2005, through July 28, 2006

Training and Education

Events
  • A formal Fall Protection Presentation was conducted in the OSHA Atlanta-East Area Office on December 14, 2006, by DBI/SALA Fall Protection. The presentation included a review of the fall protection requirements and a demonstration of various fall protection devices. Participants included representatives from the OSHA Atlanta-East and Atlanta-West Area Offices, as well as several Lamar employees.

Events
  • Lamar was provided with copies of the OSHA Region IV Fall CD’s, Struck-by/Material Handling CD’s and the Toolbox Talks Booklets for distribution during the Corporate Operations Meeting scheduled for April 2006 in Atlanta, GA.

V. Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health

Events
  • Awards ceremony to recognized members for innovative safety and health programs such as (1) The City of Boca Raton who conducted a Pre-Hurricane Safety course to prevent injuries to employees required to operate chain saws; (2) Macshmeyer Concrete employees for recognizing and taking immediate action in aiding a fellow worker who was experiencing symptoms related to heat stress.

  • SCPBC members promoted the Central Florida Feria Familiar de Salud y Seguridad, Family Safety and Health Fair, (August 20, 2005.) The primary purpose of this event was to promote safety and health in the Hispanic Community.

  • Lamar posted "Think Safety" billboards on "G", Old Jesup and Norwich Streets in Brunswick, Georgia, on August 23, 2005.
     
  • Lamar posted "Think Safety" billboards on Highway 52 and Washington Road in Augusta, Georgia, on August 23, 2005.
     
  • Lamar posted "Think Safety" billboards on Skidaway and Montgomery Streets in Savannah, Georgia, on August 23, 2005.
