III. Events and Products

Milestones Met in FY 2005
  • On May 25 representatives of OSHA, ASSE and JCSS met to discuss future activities. We decided the best approach was a teachers’ in-service day to provide instruction on OSHA and safety/health hazards with relation to topics taught at the schools. Teachers would be provided materials and appropriate information to provide effective safety and health instruction to students.

  • OSHA was provided a list of schools in the Jefferson County system with career technical programs

  • August 1 - Training began at 0800 and ended at 1500. Training was provided to 19 teachers from 24 schools with Career Technical Education Programs. The group was interactive and asked several questions.

  • August 1 – During the training session each school was provided with a package including teen worker publications from NIOSH and a copy of the presentations on CD. Members of ASSE were allotted a time to speak about their interest in the alliance and volunteered their services to speak in the classroom.
