AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING AN ALLIANCE BETWEEN OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR PARSIPPANY AND HASBROUCK HEIGHTS AREA OFFICES AND THE COMMITTEE IN UNION FOR SALVADORIANS UNION CITY, NJ
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and The Committee In Union For Salvadorians (CEUS) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safe and more healthful workplaces. OSHA and CEUS hereby form an Alliance to provide CEUS members and others with information, guidance and access to training resources that will help them protect the health and safety of Latino employees who have limited skills in English. OSHA and CEUS will work together to achieve the following training and education goal: Offer a 10-hour Construction course in Spanish to Latino workers. This course will be provided by OSHA personnel in conjunction with CEUS. OSHA and CEUS will work together to achieve the following outreach and communication goals: Make available, through CEUS, to Latino employers and employees, safety and health publications, audio-visual and other reference materials that are in Spanish; Work with the local Latino community in the Union City, New Jersey area through CEUS as well as other faith based and community organizations in an effort to enhance safety and health awareness within the Latino community; Encourage bi-lingual individuals to take the OSHA Train-the-Trainer course on either occupational safety and health standards for the Construction Industry, occupational safety and health standards for General Industry, or both, so they qualify to teach Latino workers the respective OSHA 10 and 30 hour safety and health outreach courses in Spanish. OSHA’s Alliances provide parties an opportunity to participate in a voluntary cooperative relationship with OSHA for purposes such as training and education, outreach and communication and promoting a national dialogue on workplace safety and health. These Alliances have proved to be valuable tools for both OSHA and its Alliance participants. By entering into an Alliance with a party, OSHA is not endorsing any of that party’s products or services; nor does the Agency enter into an Alliance with the purpose of promoting a particular party’s products or services. An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet on a regular schedule to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance. This agreement will remain in effect for two years from the date of signing. This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of the signatories and may be terminated for any reason with 30 days written notice.   Occupational Safety and Health Administration The Committee In Union For Salvadorians   Patricia K.
