The decision-making process for public lands in the Lewistown Field Office is conducted in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA).  All proposed actions affecting public lands or resources must be reviewed for NEPA compliance.  The levels of review are:

  • Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Record of Decision (ROD)
  • Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)
  • Categorical Exclusion (CX)
  • Determination of NEPA Adequacy (DNA) 
The NEPA log tracks initiation and approval of environmental documents that are being or have been completed as part of the BLM's responsibilities under NEPA.  As a member of the public, you are invited to provide comments/concerns on any of the proposed actions associated with this NEPA log.  These comments will be considered during the NEPA analysis and decision-making process for the applicable project. Under the column Comment Period, "Y” means there is a formal comment period during a definite period.  “N” means there is no formal comment period and comments should be submitted prior to the estimated decision date.  It is your responsibility to frequently check this site to ensure that you have the maximum time allowed for comment on a specific NEPA document. Please feel free to provide comments to or request information from the contact identified on the log.  You may also submit written comments to the Bureau of Land Management, Lewistown Field Office, 920 NE Main Street, P.O.
