Woodlands Ordinance/Map Update
Recently City staff and consultants completed an extensive
assessment of the City’s woodlands and a revised Regulated
Woodland Map. The City’s Woodland Protection Ordinance has also
been updated and provides strong guidelines and clear direction
for woodland conservation and replacement strategies.

City of Novi approves
First Brownfield Project
On April 27, the Novi City Council approved its first Brownfield
project for the Oxid Corporation. Oxid will be located at 25275
Regency Drive. A Brownfield refers to industrial or commercial
property that is underused and will be redeveloped. Oxid will
breathe new life into this parcel, further enhancing Novi’s
stake as a strong economic engine.

Lawn Watering
A recent revision in the Lawn Watering Ordinance states that
outdoor watering, including the sprinkling of lawns and
landscaping, shall only be done during non-peak hours of 11:00pm
to 5:00am.

Relay for Life
Sat. - Sun., June 6-7, 2009
Novi is ready to celebrate, remember, and fight back against
cancer. Teams are forming for this year’s American Cancer
Society Relay For Life of Novi. This year’s event will be held
on June 6-7 at Novi Middle School from 10:00am - 10:00am.
River Day
Saturday, June 6, 2009 - 9:00am - 2:00pm
Every year on the first on the first Saturday in June,
volunteers converge on various sites throughout the Rouge River
watershed and plant flowers, place woodchips, pick-up litter,
pull garlic mustard and clear the walking trails.
City of Novi Gains 51 Acres of Designated Parkland
In 2005, the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources
awarded a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant to the
City of Novi for the acquisition of two parcels located east and
west of Meadowbrook Road, between Nine and Ten Mile Roads.
