CEO Message on Senate Appropriations Committee Action on FY 2008 National Service Budget

Dear Colleagues,

Earlier today the full Senate Appropriations Committee reported out the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies FY 2008 funding bill by a 27-2 vote. The Committee recommended a total of $880.909 million for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs. This equals the level approved by the Subcommittee on Tuesday, June 19.

A full breakdown is not available at this time. However, the Committee has publicly reported that they have recommended $275.775 million for AmeriCorps grants, $217.586 million for Senior Corps programs, and $39.125 million for the Learn and Serve America program.

As more information concerning Fiscal 2008 national service funding becomes available, we will share it with you. As a reminder, details on the Corporation’s budget request for Fiscal 2008 can be found at http://www.nationalservice.gov/about/role_impact/budget.asp.

In Service,

David Eisner
