GRS Funding Opportunity
Graduate Research Supplements (GRS) to Current ENG Awards to Broaden Participation
Dear Colleague: This letter is to call your attention to an opportunity to broaden participation particularly of underrepresented students in Ph.D. programs in engineering through supplements to current research grants funded by the divisions in the Directorate for Engineering (ENG) at the National Science Foundation. Visit http://www.nsf.gov/publications/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf09045 to view the formal announcement for this opportunity.
Stimulus Bill Funding
Official NSF guidance regarding the stimulus bill is forthcoming. Please wait for this guidance to post before contacting NSF regarding these funds.
ECCS Unsolicited Proposal Submission Windows
Announcement: ECCS has a Program Director Employment Opportunity in the area of Microelectronics and Advanced Integrated Circuits The submission windows for unsolicited proposals in the ECCS Division are: - September 7 - October 7
- January 7 - February 7
Proposals submitted before or after the submission windows will be returned without review. If the deadline date falls on a weekend, it will be extended to the following Monday; if the date falls on a holiday, it will be extended to the following business day. These submission windows do not apply to workshop proposals or proposals for Small Grants for Exploratory Research (SGER). The ECCS Division discourages multiple proposals by the same PI and/or Co-PI within the same submission window. The proposal review is typically accomplished by panels of external experts, and decisions about awards or declinations are made within 6 months of each submission window. For unsolicited proposals, the two NSF merit review criteria of Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts are evaluated explicitly in the review and in considering award recommendations. These criteria are discussed in section 3A of the NSF Grant Proposal Guide. Both merit review criteria must be explicitly addressed in the project summary, or the proposal will be returned without review.
Interdisciplinary Research (IDR)
The Directorate for Engineering (ENG) encourages the submission of transformative, interdisciplinary research proposals to its programs and will be piloting a new review procedure designed to ensure that such proposals are properly evaluated. [Click here for further information]
