State Participation in Reading and Mathematics 2007In 2007 and 2005, all fifty states and two jurisdictions—District of Columbia and Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)—participated in the reading and mathematics assessments, plus ten urban districts (on a trial basis). State Participation in Science 2005In 2005, 44 states and one jurisdictions—Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)—participated in the science assessment, plus ten urban districts (on a trial basis). State and district results were collected in science at grades 4 and 8. Note: The District of Columbia did not participate in the 2005 science assessment due to an insufficient sample size. Note: In 2001, Congress funded the NAEP urban school district assessment feasibility studies. NAEP conducted the first Trial Urban District Assessment (TUDA) study in 2002. TUDA has since been conducted in 2003, 2005, and 2007, and is planned for 2009. View a table showing the history of participation in state NAEP assessments.
