Glenwood BLM specialist receives national recognition

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. – Long-time Glenwood Springs Bureau of Land Management employee Mike Kinser was recently recognized nationally for his outstanding efforts in rangeland management.

Mike was awarded the Rangeland Management Specialist Recognition Award for BLM Colorado at the 62nd Annual Society of Rangeland Management meeting Feb. 8 in Albuquerque.

Mike has been a rangeland specialist with the BLM in Glenwood Springs since 1981. His duties include administering livestock permits in parts of Eagle and Routt counties and working with permittees to ensure healthy rangeland. He also is the lead ATV instructor and riparian area specialist for the Glenwood Office.

“Mike has a wealth of knowledge and experience in rangeland management, and he is a leader in rangeland management statewide,” said Acting BLM Glenwood Springs Field Manager Steve Bennett. “Mike's a professional -- his firm but fair administration has earned the wide respect of the Resource Area permittees.”

The award cites Mike’s dedication throughout his career to the long-term sustained health of the rangeland ecosystem. He has forged strong positive partnerships with permittees with the ultimate goal of improving and maintaining rangeland health for following generations to enjoy.
