Brian St. George named BLM Gunnison Field Manager

LAKEWOOD--Brian St George has been named the new manager for the Bureau of Land Management’s Gunnison Field Office. St. George will start his new position in mid June.

"We are pleased to have Brian in this important position. The Gunnison Field Office contains some of the BLM's most spectacular scenery as well as critical wildlife habitat and important grazing resources for the community," BLM Colorado State Director Sally Wisely said. "Brian's experience in all facets of resource management through our land use planning process will serve the people of the Gunnison Valley well."

"The most important and gratifying aspect of working for the BLM is my role as a public servant," St. George said. "That means listening to all members of the public while fulfilling the BLM's mission and responsibility to manage the public's land and natural resources."

St. George is currently in charge of the land use planning group at the BLM Colorado State Office. He has also served as the acting branch chief for social and cultural resources. He began work for the BLM after graduating from Indiana University with a masters degree in land use planning.  He also holds a degree in wildlife biology from Colorado State University.  His career in public land and resource management includes work for the BLM, the City of Lakewood, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and rural communities in southern Africa.

During his tenure with BLM Colorado, St. George has focused on developing comprehensive resource management plans for public lands in Colorado.  This experience has provided broad exposure to the resource management issues and challenges in the state, and the wide variety of stakeholders and interests involved in public land management.
