Eric Holland
Deputy Assistant Attorney General

Eric Holland joined the Bush Administration in October 2001, and currently serves as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Policy and Communications for the Office of Justice Programs. In this capacity, Mr. Holland is responsible for advising the Assistant Attorney General, key Presidential Appointees, and other senior staff in fulfilling the Administration’s mandates. He provides executive leadership to daily operations and oversees, implements, and carries out the directives of the Assistant Attorney General.

Prior to joining the Office of Justice Programs, Mr. Holland served as the Justice Department’s White House Liaison, where he oversaw and coordinated the appointments of all Department non-career Senior Executive Service and Schedule C appointees, and was responsible for the policy and management of the Department’s political appointment process. Additionally, Mr. Holland served as the Acting Director/Deputy Director for the Justice Department’s Office of Intergovernmental and Public Liaison, where he supervised all activities related to state and local government and law enforcement officials, and outside organizations. He advised the Attorney General and ensured that the local perspective was taken into account as Department policies and programs were being discussed and implemented. As the Chief Spokesman for the Department’s Civil Rights Division, Mr. Holland was responsible for disseminating critical information and developing public affairs policies.

Mr. Holland began his service to the Bush Administration at the Department of Defense as Director of the Defend America Program. His duties included representing the Secretary of Defense at the White House Coalition Information Center, and playing a significant role in the Department’s public affairs initiatives to update the American people on the war on terrorism.

Mr. Holland has an extensive background in government affairs. Before joining the Bush Administration, he was Director of Regulatory Affairs for the Chemical Producers and Distributors Association. He was the Information Manager for the 1996 Dole Presidential Campaign, and for 3 years served as the Legislative Officer for the Governor of Puerto Rico.

Mr. Holland earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee. He earned the degree of juris doctor from Western New England College, School of Law.

Mr. Holland and his wife, Kristen, live in Alexandria, Virginia with their two daughters.
