Summary: Full Implementation of Security Architecture for eCampus-Based Web Site Access

Posted on 01-25-2007

As we informed you in Dear Colleague Letter CB-06-14, dated October 25, 2006, we are implementing a new authentication method for the eCampus-Based (eCB) system. With this new authentication method, you will access the eCB system through a Security Architecture using a user id and password instead of a PIN for authentication. Earlier this week, in an Electronic Announcement posted on January 22, 2007 , we informed you of a delay in the full implementation of Security Architecture for accessing the eCB system.

We are now ready to fully implement the new authentication method, and plan to do so on Sunday, January 28, 2007. There will be no eCB system outage while we complete this implementation.

Beginning Monday, January 29, 2007, you will no longer be able to access the eCB system using a PIN for authentication. You will access the eCB system through a Security Architecture using a user id and password for authentication. If you have not already done so, you will need to register for a user id and self-select a password the first time you attempt to access the eCB system on or after January 29th. If you have any questions about the registration process, please refer to the "Registration Help Files" link located on the left side of the "Login to Application" page.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we complete this important work. If you have any questions about this announcement, contact the Campus-Based Call Center at 877/801-7168. Customer service representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. (ET). You may also e-mail CBFOB@ed.gov.
