With the exception of your Social Security Number, you can change your answers to any FAFSA questions using Corrections on the Web.

If you feel you have unusual circumstances that should be considered after your FAFSA is processed, you should contact your school’s financial aid office to find out how you might be able to correct your application.

I don't know my latest transaction number. What should I do?

If you would like to correct your latest transaction using Corrections on the Web but do not know the transaction number, leave the FAFSA Transaction question blank. We will look up the most recent transaction for you.

TIP: If you printed your SAR from this Web site, your transaction number is located in the upper right hand corner of the SAR, right after your partial Social Security Number and the first two letters of your last name.

If you received a paper Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail, your transaction number is located in the lower right corner of each page, right after your Social Security Number and the first two letters of your last name.

I have multiple transactions on file, but I need to correct my first transaction. Is this possible?

Yes. Using Corrections on the Web, you can correct any one of your transactions. If you want to correct your first transaction, enter “01” as your transaction number in the FAFSA Transaction question. Select the Submit button, and make the necessary corrections.

Each time a new transaction is created, a new SAR will be sent to you.

  • If we have a valid e-mail address on file for you and the transaction was processed successfully, we will send you an e-mail with instructions on how to access an online copy of your updated SAR.
  • If we do not have a valid e-mail address on file for you, or your application was submitted without the required signatures, a paper SAR will be sent to you.

Your SAR will also be made available to all schools you listed on your FAFSA.
