Mentor Recruitment Promoted by National Training Seminar
On April 11-13, 2007, in Nashville, TN, the National Network of Youth Ministries, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Corporation for National and Community Service, will host Mobilizing New Mentors…Through Faith- and Community-Based Collaborations. This national training seminar is designed to assist mentoring programs in finding new mentors, working with faith-based communities, and operating an effective volunteer program. The registration deadline is March 30, 2007.

FY07 State Victim Assistance Academy (SVAA) Initiative
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) has announced the FY07 State Victim Assistance Academy Initiative.  OVC's goal is to assist states in developing effective strategies for establishing State Victim Assistance Academies (SVAAs) and to help create a network of SVAAs that can meet the educational and training needs of victim service providers and allied professionals in each state in the Nation.  The purpose of the SVAA is to provide comprehensive, academically based, fundamental education and training for victim assistance providers, victim advocates, criminal justice personnel, and allied professionals who routinely deal with crime victims. Faith- and community-based organizations are eligible to apply.  To review the solicitation click here.
