After an intense investigation, the U.S.
Marshals Service Middle District of Alabama and the Gulf Coast Regional
Fugitive Task Force arrested a Kansas man wanted on seven counts of failure
to register as a sex offender. Today Isaac Miller of Junction City, Kansas
was arrested at 16th Avenue South in Phenix City, Alabama. In December 1995, Miller was convicted of indecent liberties with a child in Riley County, Kansas and sentence to 130 months in prison. Since his release Miller has failed to register with Junction City, Kansas Police on several occasions leaving him in an absconder status. Miller was also wanted on several other warrants in Kansas ranging from probation violations to failure to appear. U.S. Marshals in Kansas developed information that Miller had possibly fled to the Phenix City area. Members of the Middle District of Alabama and Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force along with assistance of the Phenix City Police Department determined that Miller did have family in the area and arrested him. “The capture of Isaac Miller is great example of how sex offenders from great distances can no longer flee across the United States and hide among the community,” said U.S. Marshal Jesse Seroyer Jr. “Since the enactment of the Adam Walsh Act the United States Marshals has aggressively pursued sex offenders who fail to register. We will continue to work hand in hand with local and state law enforcement to apprehend these fugitives.” The U.S. Marshals Service is the lead law enforcement agency responsible for investigating sex offender registration violations and related offenses in connection with violations of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, which was enacted in July of 2006. The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of U.S. Marshals and state and local law enforcement officers in Alabama and Mississippi. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest fugitives wanted for crimes of violence and any charges involving sexual offenses.
