Suspect in Albuquerque Gang-Related Homicide Nabbed in Pflugerville by Task Force
LSFTF LogoAustin, TX – Jerel Carter, 18, was arrested yesterday afternoon by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Pflugerville Police at approximately 4:30 pm in block of 700 block of Abbeyglen Castle Dr., in Pflugerville, Texas without incident. Carter was recently charged in Albuquerque, New Mexico for his alleged involvement in a November 2008 gang related shooting that left Irvin Samuels dead at the scene as a result of several gun shot wounds.

U.S. Marshals Service authorities in New Mexico notified the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force this morning as New Mexico lawmen became aware of Carter’s recent arrival in the Pflugerville area. It was presumed Carter fled shortly after the homicide. Task Force officers were notified of an address in the Abbeyglen Castle Drive address and established surveillance throughout the day. Officers identified Carter as he was loitering outside the home and was quickly apprehended without a struggle.

Carter was transported to the Travis County Jail pending extradition to New Mexico.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is comprised of the Williamson, Travis, Hays, and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Departments, Austin Police Department and the U.S. Marshals.

LaFayette Collins, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, states, “The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is committed to making our communities safe and will hunt down criminals who have no regard for the rule of law.”
