Memphis, TN - On Nov. 6, 2008, U.S. Marshals Mid South Fugitive Task Force
(MSFTF) arrested Darrin Pearson in the 600 block of Tully at approximately
7:00 a.m. Pearson, who has been know to resist arrest in the past, attempted
to deny his identity, even after his associates called him “Darrin” but his
numerous tattoos made a positive identification easy.
On December 26, 2007 a homicide warrant was issued for
Pearson out of San
Bernadino, CA. This warrant was issued after Pearson allegedly shot a man,
he did not know, 8 times with a sawed-off rifle on Christmas Eve 2007.
Shortly after this warrant was issued Pearson, a California parolee, was
also
charged with Parole Violations.
The U.S. Marshals Pacific South West Regional Fugitive Task Force
(PSWRFTF) and the California Department of Corrections - Inland Empire
Fugitive Apprehension Team (IE-FAT) conducted an intense fugitive
investigation
of this violent offender and learned that Pearson fled to Memphis, TN
shortly
after the homicide. In September, 2008, the PSWRFTF requested the
assistance of the MSFTF in locating and apprehending Pearson. Western
District of Tennessee U.S. Marshal David G. Jolley noted: "Pearson is
another
prime example as to why the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Forces were created.
In the past year alone we have tracked and apprehended several violent local
fugitives across the United States and we have apprehended others from
across
the United States in our community. The task forces insure there is no safe
place
in the United States for fugitives to run to much less to hide."
The Mid-South Fugitive Task Force is composed of members fro the U. S.
Marshals Service, the
Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, and the Tennessee Board of Probation and
Parole.
