Toledo,
OH – The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, with
assistance from the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, arrested fugitive Andy
Ellenwood on October 8, 2008, in Toledo, Ohio. Ellenwood (age 57) was wanted
by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office in Cordele, Ga. for violation of
probation stemming from a conviction for Aggravated Sodomy of a Minor.
Ellenwood was also wanted by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in Macon, Ga.
for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
U.S. Marshals in Macon determined that
Ellenwood had possibly fled to the Toledo, Ohio area. The Northern Ohio
Violent Fugitive Task Force was notified of three possible locations for
Ellenwood. With the assistance from the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, all
three addresses were placed under surveillance. Task Force members
approached an apartment complex in the 600 block of Cherry Street in Toledo.
While entering the apartment complex, Ellenwood was seen walking off an
elevator. Ellenwood was apprehended without incident and transported to the
Lucas County Jail. Ellenwood told Task Force members that he knew he was
wanted and that he took a commercial bus from Macon, Ga. to Toledo, Ohio.
Ellenwood will have an extradition hearing concerning his return to Georgia
to face his charges.
Lucas County Sheriff James Telb states, “The
capture of wanted Georgia sex offender, Andy Ellenwood, by the U.S.
Marshal's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is an example of
inter-agency cooperation and support that continues to take dangerous
criminals off of the streets of Toledo.”
