WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, May 29, 2003, U.S. Department of Justice Community Relations Service (CRS) Director Sharee M. Freeman will address a conference sponsored by the Buffalo Commission on Citizens'Rights and Community Relations in Buffalo, New York. The conference will be held on May 29, 2003 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Canisius College, 2001 Main Street, Buffalo, New York.

"Standing among community leaders like yourselves, individuals united in your common commitment to furthering the democratic principles of our great nation, serves as an inspiration to me," said CRS Director Sharee M. Freeman.

"Your dedication to the principles of justice and equality enables CRS' success in your communities. CRS would be rendered virtually ineffective without the committed work of individuals like you. And your devotion to the cause of racial reconciliation will do much more than simply help CRS: it will vastly improve the lives and futures of our children and grandchildren, who can expect to live in a brighter and more promising world as a direct result of our joint efforts," she said.

CRS is a unique federal agency dedicated to preventing and defusing racial and ethnic conflicts. For more information about the Community Relations Service, a component of the U.S. Department of Justice, see its web site at: www.usdoj.gov/crs.
