The Center staff work with the field and can provide a team approach to telephone and onsite compliance assistance. SLTC provides a multi-disciplinary team approach in support of OSHA's complex and highly visible investigations.

HEALTH RESPONSE TEAM (HRT) AND FIELD SUPPORT

OSHA's Health Response Team (HRT) can help assess the source and extent of exposure to chemical hazards, biological hazards, physical energy, and ergonomics. HRT can also help determine feasibility of administrative, engineering, and PPE appropriate controls. Our staff are experts in unified incident command systems, have experience with interagency responses, and coordinate and lead OSHA's Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Collapsed Structures Specialized Response Teams (SRT).

THE LAB

The Center's AIHA (ISO17025) accredited laboratory analyzes over 400 chemicals and maintains OSHA's on-line Chemical Sampling Information (CSI) File that provides method and sampling information.

Laboratory staff provides analytical investigation support in:
  • Material Failures - failure of valves, cables, scaffolding, etc.
  • Explosibility Testing - dusts (grain, metal, organic, etc.)
  • Soils Classification
  • Carboxyhemoglobin back calculations to environmental CO levels
  • Mass Spectrometry - pyrolysis and unknown identification

WEB PRODUCTS

SLTC staff maintain OSHA's on-line Safety and Health Topics, eTools, and other OSHA related Web products.
