International Regulatory Policy

The SEC has long recognized the important contributions that foreign issuers and foreign financial service providers bring to the US financial markets and to US investors. Accordingly, OIA analyzes the impact of SEC rules and actions upon foreign market participants active in US markets, and considers the manner in which SEC initiatives affect the cross-border activities of US issuers and US financial service providers. Refer to SEC Rulemaking and Other Initiatives.

OIA actively participates and coordinates the SEC's involvement in initiatives related to the regulation of globally-active market participants, and to promote the strengthening and implementation of high-quality securities regulation and accounting, auditing, and enforcement standards. OIA does this through Multilateral Policy Initiatives, as well as through bilateral efforts, including our Regulatory Dialogues.
