CAUTION

Adam Mark Zachs is wanted for the murder of a man in West Hartford, Connecticut. On March 22, 1987, Zachs became involved in an argument with a man at a bar. Upset over the verbal exchange, Zachs left the bar and went to his apartment where he obtained a 9mm automatic pistol. He returned to the bar and asked the man with whom he had argued to step outside. After an additional argument outside the bar, the victim turned and began walking back inside the bar. Zachs then pulled out the pistol and shot the victim in the back. The victim died from his wounds.

Zachs fled the scene of the shooting, but was later arrested at his apartment. On August 23, 1988, at the conclusion of a jury trial, Zachs was convicted of murder and sentenced to 60 years in prison. Pending appeal, Zachs was released on bond. In June of 1989, Zachs failed to appear at a scheduled court hearing and a warrant for failure to appear was issued by a judge in the Superior Court of Connecticut on June 27, 1989. On July 24, 1989, a federal arrest warrant charging Zachs with unlawful flight to avoid confinement was issued in the United States District Court, Hartford, Connecticut.
