What is considered my "Date of Total and Permanent Disability" (also known as "Conditional Discharge Period Begin Date")?

The Date of Total and Permanent Disability (Conditional Discharge Period Begin Date) is defined as follows:

• If the Direct Loan Servicing Center receives your Total and Permanent Disability Discharge application before July 1, 2008, your Conditional Discharge Period Begin Date is the date your physician certified you as disabled.
• If the Direct Loan Servicing Center receives your Total and Permanent Disability Discharge application on or after July 1, 2008, your Conditional Discharge Period Begin Date is the date your physician signed your Total and Permanent Disability Discharge application.
