I'm in school, do I qualify for a deferment?

If you are attending an eligible school on at least a half-time status you may qualify for in-School deferment. See your school's FAO (Financial Aid Office) to see if your school is eligible. If it is, there are two ways to notify us of your enrollment information.

• Check with your school to see if your enrollment can be reported to us electronically.
• If not, you will need to complete a student deferment form. You may obtain one by visiting the Deferment Forms page in the Forms section of our Web site or by contacting the Direct Loan Servicing Center. Have your school certifiy your attendance and mail the deferment to us. If the form is properly completed and you are eligible, we will defer your loans.
