What are the formats for e-mails?

E-mail messages can be sent and received in three formats: HTML, rich text and plain text. Most, but not all, recent versions of e-mail applications support HTML and plain text formats. HTML format allows messages to contain graphics, text formatting, tables, horizontal lines, numbering, and Web content. We will send e-mails to you in HTML format. If your e-mail client doesn't support HTML format, you will receive the message as plain text, which will contain extra characters like the text below.

<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Electronic Services</TITLE>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<META content="MSHTML 6.00.2462.0" name=GENERATOR></HEAD>
<BODY vLink=#669966 link=#cc6600 bgColor=white leftMargin=0>

If your e-mail message appears like this, you may want to download a more recent version of your e-mail software. You also may be able to change the settings on your e-mail client. Check your e-mail Help section for information on how to update your software or change your settings to receive HTML formatted e-mails.
