News Release: About the New BEA Look

The BEA Web site will take on a new look and feel on February 6, 2007, as part of a redesign. Visitors to the site should expect more stream-lined navigation and layout. A key element in the improved navigational structure is a new right-hand menu. This new feature is coined “On this page,” and has been added to second-level pages. This navigational menu will give users a quick-reference of all of the information contained on a page, and allow them to anchor directly to it, without scanning or scrolling. This improvement is central to the ultimate goal of allowing our customers to access site information much more quickly. Users will also notice a more efficient global navigation menu in the heading of all pages across the site, among other extensive enhancements.

It is understood that many users create ‘bookmarks’ or ‘favorites’ for their most frequently accessed pages on our site. However, due to some alterations to our directory structure, some ‘bookmarked’ URLs may no longer house the information they did prior to the redesign. This will not pose an issue, as users will be automatically re-directed to the new URL locations, for pages where this applies. Once re-directed, it is important that Web site customers take note, updating any bookmarks and favorites to reflect the new URL path where the data has been re-located. Please be advised that there will be no change to our frequently-accessed, and time-sensitive interactive data table URLs. Leading up to the redesign, please feel free to send all inquiries and comments to BEA Webmaster. Web staff will address your submissions accordingly.
