FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UST FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1994 (202) 616-2765 TDD (202) 514-1888 JOSEPH PATCHAN NAMED UST DIRECTOR WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Attorney General Janet Reno has appointed Joseph Patchan, an attorney with extensive experience in bankruptcy matters, as the Director of the Executive Office for United States Trustees, the Department of Justice announced today. Patchan, who begins his duties December 19, has been with the Resolution Trust Corporation since 1991, most recently serving in the capacity of Deputy General Counsel. Prior to joining the RTC, he was a partner in the Cleveland law firm of Baker & Hostetler, where he led the firm's national bankruptcy work. From 1978 through 1991, Patchan was a member of the Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules of the Judicial Conference and also served as a bankruptcy judge. He was the first chapter 13 trustee appointed in the Northern District of Ohio. Patchan, who received his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and his law degree from Cleveland State University Law School, has written and lectured extensively about bankruptcy law and also was on the faculty for seminars for bankruptcy judges held at the Federal Judicial Center. He is married and has three children. The Executive Office for United States Trustees provides legal, administrative and management direction and coordination to the United States Trustees program, which is responsible for supervising the administration of bankruptcy estates. ##### 94-691
