Drug Registration > Registration Procedures Registration ProceduresGENERAL INFORMATION Information concerning the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration process can be obtained from a DEA field office or by contacting the Registration Call Center at 1-800-882-9539. Our Registration Call Center is staffed from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. , Eastern Standard Time. During non-business hours, information is available through our automated Call Center menus. NEW APPLICATIONS If you are applying for a DEA registration, you will need to request a new application form. The application form required depends upon the type of activity you intend to conduct. To determine which form you need, please refer to the registration category area on this site. Applications for registration may be obtained from a field office or by telephoning the Registration Section in our Headquarters office at 1-800-882-9539. See the Directory area of this Web Site for the office nearest to you. The DEA Form-224 is currently available on-line (Recommended). If you complete a paper DEA Form-224, please mail it to: Drug Enforcement Administration Additionally, other forms for a new registration (Forms DEA-225, DEA-363 and DEA-510) are currently available on-line (Recommended). Paper forms should be mailed to: Drug Enforcement Administration The average processing time for a new DEA registration is four to six weeks provided that the application is complete. To avoid delay in the processing of your application, be sure to check the following before submitting the application to DEA.
RENEWAL APPLICATION PROCESS The DEA Form 224a is currently available on-line (Recommended). Renewal applications are mailed automatically to the registered location 60 days prior to the expiration date. Any changes of address must be reported in writing to DEA at the time the change occurs so that the renewal application will be sent to the correct address. Renewal applications will not be forwarded by the Post Office. If you are moving to a new state, please submit a copy of the new state license and a copy of the state controlled substance registration. To avoid delay in the processing of your application, make sure of the following before submitting the application to DEA:
DUPLICATE CERTIFICATES If your registration certificate is lost, damaged, or destroyed, a duplicate certificate will be provided upon request at no additional cost. Contact the Registration Call Center or fill out an online duplicate certificate request. The duplicate certificate should be received within eight working days.
