Subject: Live Internet Town Hall Meeting - Higher Education Opportunity Act

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid’s Live Internet Town Hall Meeting on the Higher Education Opportunity Act.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce our Town Hall Meeting on the Higher Education Opportunity Act (the HEOA), Pub. L. 110-315. This will be a live Internet broadcast during which we will answer questions related to the HEOA. The HEOA was enacted on August 14, 2008 and reauthorizes the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (the HEA).

We know that members of the community have outstanding questions related to the provisions in the HEOA. This is an opportunity for participants to submit those questions in advance and then attend the meeting, which will be devoted to answering the questions.

Federal Student Aid trainers will present the questions and answers in the 90-minute meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. (ET).

Note: There may be a difference between a participant’s local time and Eastern Time. To determine local time and its Eastern Time zone equivalent, click on this link:

Advance registration is required for this meeting and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, click on this link:

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the participant. The participant should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the participant cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

Question Submission Process: A registered participant’s e-mail confirmation will include a link for advance question submission. The participant will use this link to submit his or her questions. We will review all pre-submitted questions and answer as many as possible during the 90-minute meeting. Questions must be submitted by the deadline provided in the participant’s e-mail confirmation or they will not be considered for inclusion in the presentation.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each participant to download after he or she signs in to the meeting. These slides will list the questions that we will answer during the meeting.

We look forward to your participation in this meeting. If you have questions about this training opportunity, please contact Mark Gerhard at mark.gerhard@ed.gov.

Sincerely,

Jana Hernandes
