Southwest Resource Advisory Council meets November 14 in Gunnison

The Bureau of Land Management’s Southwest Resource Advisory Council will meet on on Friday, November 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Gunnison at the Holiday Inn Express, 910 E. Tomichi Ave.

The meeting is open to the public, with a public comment period scheduled for 10 a.m. Agenda topics include:

·        Field Manager Reports

·        Renewable Energy Resources on Public Lands

·        Update on Gunnison Travel Management Plan

·        Update on Alpine Loop Plan

·        Update on Dry Creek Travel Management Plan

·        Update on Healthy Lands Initiative

·        National Register listing successes

·        2009 Meetings

On Thursday, November 13, at 1 p.m. the RAC members will take a field trip to view aspen regeneration projects.

The Southwest RAC is one of three advisory councils to BLM Colorado. Composed of 15 members appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, individuals serving in each RAC represent a broad range of public land interests, including environmental, local government, and commercial activity. The Southwest RAC advises the Uncompaghre, Gunnison, Dolores, Durango, and Pagosa Springs Field Office areas.
