Getting Started - Mailing Lists/Listservs

Listed below are mailing lists and listservs that you may join to receive the latest information about publications and technical issues. Click on each link to find out what types of publications or services are offered by the corresponding mailing list or listserv.

Mailing Lists/Listservs

  • Direct Loan

Through this listserv you will receive communications about policy, system changes, technical issues, and operational guidance related to the Direct Loan Program. E-mail dlops@ed.gov with your name and e-mail address. In your e-mail, request to SUBSCRIBE.

  • FFELP School List

This is a list of addresses used to mail communications and reports to schools that participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program. Changes can be made by contacting the Financial Partners Channel.

  • FSATECH

Subscribers to the FSATECH listserv can pose technical questions about Federal Student Aid systems, software, and mainframe products. Answers are researched by Federal Student Aid system developers and sent to everyone on the listserv.

  • General

We now mail all general publications, such as the Federal Student Aid Handbook, to the mailing addresses maintained on-line at our E-App for Schools site. Note that there is a special question asking where you would like to receive these publications - Question 13. If you leave Question 13 blank, we will send publications to the address that you listed for the "Financial Aid Administrator." The E-APP for Schools allows you to list publication mailing addresses for additional location as well as your main campus. Here are the complete instructions for updating your mailing address on-line.

  • OPEID & Official Address

The addresses kept in these mailing lists are not the necessarily the same as your school's legal name and address in our Postsecondary Educational Participation system. If your school's legal name or address changes, you must update the name (Question 2) or principal location (Question 29) on the E-APP for Schools site at http://eligcert.ed.gov/ See Volume 2, Chapter 10 of the Federal Student Aid Handbook for more information about institutional changes that must be reported to the Department.
