Our Mission

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s mission is, working with others, to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.

The ABMO organization provides a foundation and the necessary tools for all natural resources programs to accomplish their day-to-day operations and to accomplish the Service’s mission.

What We Do

Under the leadership of Assitant Director Paul Henne, the Office of the Assistant Director for Business Management and Operations (ABMO) is responsible for the development of policy and Servicewide guidance on a myriad of business management and operational activities. ABMO directs, formulates, and manages Servicewide financial management activities, contracting and acquisition management, engineering and construction management, Servicewide safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene programs, economic analyses, and other associated operational support functions.

Mr. Henne also serves as the FWS Chief Financial Officer, Head of Contracting Activity and the Designated Safety and Health Official and participates on the CFO Council and the Designated Agency Safety and Health Official Council.
