With H1N1 influenza virus in the news, it’s important for fire and EMS chiefs to understand what their focus of preparedness for patient care should encompass and how their departments should react to public and internal-personnel concerns. The IAFC, with its EMS Section Emerging Disease Committee, created a webpage for the fire and emergency service community to understand H1N1 flu and access various guidance documents and resources generated for public health and safety officials dealing with topics like mask use, patient care, vehicle cleaning and antiviral recommendations.
