Free Trade Agreements

FTA Page

FTAs have proven to be one of the best ways to open up foreign markets to U.S. exporters, and since 2001 the United States has implemented FTAs with 11 countries. Today the United States holds FTAs with 14 countries. In 2006 countries with which the United States had FTAs comprised 7.5 percent of global GDP (not including the United States) while accounting 42.6 percent of U.S. exports.

As part of an interagency effort between the U.S. Departments of Commerce, United States Trade Representative, Treasury, State and Agriculture, a new web site, http://www.tradeagreements.gov has been launched to provide the public with the latest information on America's trade agreements. The site will be regularly updated with news about existing agreements, as well as pending free trade agreements with Peru, Colombia, Panama and South Korea.
