Web Conference on New Criminal History Check Requirements

Dear Grantee Staff:

As you know, the new criminal history check requirements will go into effect on November 23, 2007. To help you understand the new requirements as you prepare your systems and procedures for compliance, we will be offering a webinar led by attorneys with the Corporation’s Office of General Counsel on the new rule.

The webinar will review the new requirements, show you how to conduct a check on the National Sex Offender Public Registry website (www.nsopr.gov), and include a question and answer period. We strongly encourage all programs to participate in the webinar because the changes are significant and many programs are misunderstanding key aspects of the new requirements. (New programs that attended the 2007 AmeriCorps Program Start-up Institute in Memphis do not need to participate because the information in the webinar will duplicate the presentation on the criminal history check requirements that was offered at the Institute.)

For your convenience, the webinar will be offered three times so that you can pick the one that best fits your schedule. To make it possible for all programs to have the opportunity to ask questions during the webinar, each of the sessions will be limited to thirty participants. If you have a strong preference for one of the sessions, we recommend that you dial and log in on time to increase your chance of being among the first thirty participants.

The webinar will be offered at the following times:

  • Monday, November 5, 2007 at 2:00 pm Eastern
  • Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm Eastern
  • Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 2:00 pm Eastern

To access a webinar, you will need to--

  1. Click the web link for the online portion for the day of your choice and
  2. Dial the toll-free phone number to access the audio portion.
