2007 AmeriCorps Grantee Meeting and Staff Training at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service Registration Is OPEN

As a follow-up to our memorandum dated March 6, 2007, we are pleased to announce the on-line registration for the National Conference on Volunteering and Service and AmeriCorps Grantee Staff Training is open and ready for you to register at www.volunteeringandservice.org. The Early Bird registration cut-off date is June 15. After that date, registration fees for CNCS-affiliated participants will increase to $475.

Many of you have received the $1,500 supplement to your PDAT funds to support participation of commission staff and commissioners in National Conference on Volunteering and Service and AmeriCorps Grantee Meeting and Staff Training. If you have not yet received the supplement, you should by the end of April. Contact your Program Officer if this does not occur.

Once you arrive at volunteeringandservice.org, there are three separate registration steps you need to perform. There are three things we recommend that you do before you even try to register:

  • There are three things we recommend that you do before you even try to register:
  • On the left navigation bar you will see "Schedule at a Glance." Review this to get a sense of the entire conference layout.
  • Review the file attached to this memo with the specific activities of the AmeriCorps Grantee Staff Training including workshop titles and descriptions for your selections. Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15, are Pre-conference days with AmeriCorps specific tracks. The official AmeriCorps grantee meeting starts on Sunday, July 15 with an opening plenary at 8:00 a.m. and AmeriCorps State and AmeriCorps National luncheons at noon. The national conference opens Monday July 16 at 9:30 a.m. and closes Wednesday, July 18 at 2:30 p.m.
  • Then, click on "Workshops" under "Program" on the left navigation bar of volunteeringandservice.org and under the list of search terms, click to review the searchable database of conference workshops. This is important because when you register, you will be asked to make your workshop selections. It’s important to know what selections you plan to make when you are in the actual Registration part of the site.

Then you are ready to…

Step One:

Register for the national conference by clicking on "Register for Conference’ under the Registration navigation bar.

Below are a few tips to help you navigate the registration process:

  • On the National Conference registration site Special Functions page 7 note the following:
    • Sunday, July 15, 2007 8:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m. please check P-13 AmeriCorps Grantee Training/Federal Grants Management; and,
    • Monday, July 16, 2007 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. please check P-26 Federal Grants Management
  • Then, select any other Special Functions you may be interested in (that do not conflict with the dates and times of the AmeriCorps Grantee Training) and conference workshops for Tuesday and Wednesday as per your previous review of the conference program and workshops.
    • On the confirmation page, you will see the link to the site where you will select activities and workshops that are a part of the AmeriCorps Grantee Staff Training.

Step Two:

Register for specific AmeriCorps Grantee Staff Training activities and workshops as per the file attached to this memo. You can also get to this site by clicking on "AmeriCorps Grantee Training" under "Program" on the left navigation bar of the volunteeringandservice.org site.

Step Three:

Now that you know what you plan to do in Philadelphia and when you need to be there, click on the Housing link or "Reserve Your Hotel" under the "Registration and Housing" left navigation bar on volunteeringandservice.org and make your hotel reservations.

Remember!!

  • Once you are in the registration site for the national conference (step one), you will have only about 10 minutes to complete the process before you are "timed out."
  • The good news is, by creating your log-in and password at the beginning of the process, you can come back at a later date to make changes and update your itinerary.
  • Workshops sessions will fill quickly so better to register soon!

Questions? Contact Jen Prall at conferencemanager@cns.gov.

We look forward to seeing all of you in Philadelphia in July!
