Welcome to Connections

Welcome to the new Connections, the newsletter of the Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral (ADEAR) Center, a service of the NIA. This issue is the first to adopt our redesigned and updated online format, which we hope will be more accessible and timelier than the printed version.

Along with the change in format and delivery, we've taken a fresh look at the Connections content. As in the past, each issue will highlight NIA-sponsored research, clinical trials, upcoming events, and items recently added to our Alzheimer's Disease Library (AD Lib). Readers will also find new features, including tips for caregivers; summaries of recently published NIA-funded AD research; new NIA consumer publications; and facts about NIA, the ADEAR Center, and Alzheimer's Disease Centers across the country.

Connections is designed both to deliver important information and to provide a resource for people working across the Alzheimer's disease and dementia spectrum. Researchers who read Connections will gain new perspectives on what people with dementia and their caregivers are dealing with, how they do it, and the role research plays on the front lines of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Caregivers and others can get a current view of the directions, progress, and promise of AD research.

We invite you to sign up for a free subscription to Connections by using the "Subscribe/Unsubscribe" feature below. You also may sign up for regular e-mail alerts from the ADEAR Center or NIA and browse the Connections archives by clicking on the links below. For further information about Alzheimer's disease or NIA's research efforts, visit the ADEAR Center Web site at www.nia.nih.gov/alzheimers, call the ADEAR Center at 800-438-4380, or send an e-mail message to adear@nia.nih.gov.

We hope you find the new online Connections newsletter to be helpful, informative, and engaging. Thank you for your ongoing interest in NIA and our efforts to improve the lives of people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Please pass Connections along to others who may find it interesting or useful.

Sincerely,

Marcelle Morrison-Bogorad, Ph.D., Director
NIA Division of Neuroscience

Vicky Cahan, Director
NIA Office of Communications and Public Liaison
