Internship Opportunities

NOTE: We are not accepting applications for Internships at this time!

Are you interested in a career in international business?

The Kansas City USEAC has a limited number of volunteer internships to offer undergraduates considering careers in international business. We provide firms with direct sales leads, help them establish contacts with prospective overseas business partners, and offer promotional vehicles to introduce their products and services worldwide. As the principal federal government resource for international trade development and assistance, the U.S. Export Assistance Centers offer a unique internship opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in international business.

Internship Eligibility:

International Trade Interns are chosen through a highly selective process. It is imperative that one is able to communicate in a professional environment, be enthusiastic, and willing to learn. Interns must be a U.S. citizen and a current student at a higher education institution. Course credit depends on the individual student's school; however, the USEAC will support any efforts for interns to receive course credit. You must be able to work 16 hours a week minimum during the fall/spring terms and 24 hours a week minimum during our summer term.

Major Areas of Study:

All Business Majors, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, International Relations, Marketing, Foreign Language, Communications, Sociology, Geography and History. Priority will be given to business and international majors.

Daily Job Activities

International Trade Interns become involved in the daily operational aspects of managing a high activity office. Projects range from coordinating market research to counseling U.S. companies seeking new international trade partners. Interns support trade specialists with development of trade seminars, presentations and other projects, as well as, assist walk-in visitors, handle telephone calls, light clerical and administrative support duties.

The purpose of the internship is three-fold:

1) to provide a problem solving perspective within a "real World" professional business assistance environment;

2) to provide the student with the ability to creatively link their academic studies and skills with the export business development assistance we provide to our client companies; and

3) to provide the student with in-depth knowledge of the organizations, programs and resource base for international trade development.
