Paul Schuster and Randy Host give a talk to K6-K12 students at the Eagle Public School. Students are instructed on sampling techniques for a school project on American Creek. Boats are prepared for sampling cruise. Aug 23rdNew 24ft boat by Sea Ark is towed from Fairbanks to Circle, AK and launched on the Yukon R. The Sea Ark is acquired as a support and cargo boat. Sea Ark boats up river to meet sampling crew at the National Park Service's Slavens cabin. (54 miles). Sampling crew departs Eagle and takes a grab sample below Tatondik R. (26 miles). Sampling crew continues to Nation River (20 miles). Discharge by Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), water sample by Equal Discharge Increment method (EDI) with a D-96 sampler. Grab sample of the Yukon R. below Nation R. Sampling crew continues to Slavens cabin. (53 miles). Aug 24thSampling crew departs for Kandik River (24 miles).
