NCHM Fellowship and Internship Information
The CDC Health Communications Training Program was created to provide training for individuals interested in the field of health communications. Candidates may apply for fellowships or internships.
Sample activities for participants may include, but are not limited to:
- Research in support of marketing and communication initiatives: literature reviews, formative research, evaluation research, progress reports.
- Research and coordination of marketing and communications campaigns, both internal and external.
- Research and development of marketing and communications materials.
Eligibility
Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen or foreign national possessing a visa permitting permanent residence in the U.S. (Alien Registration or Green Card). Student visas and temporary work visas do not qualify.
Requirements and Desired Skills
Fellowship: A minimum of a Master's degree, or equivalent, with related appropriate postgraduate experience is desirable. Master's level students with appropriate qualifications will be considered, but the education and experience must be in a field relevant to the Program.
Internship: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a subject area related to the Program. A participant in the Exchange Visitor Program must have a Bachelor's degree along with three or more years of relevant experience.
The applicant should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and have education and training in some or all of the following areas:
- health communications research
- marketing research and evaluation
- behavioral science
- social science
- strategic communications planning
- health education
- risk communication
- web development
- program evaluation
