FEMA Reminds Residents Of Counties Declared For Individual Assistance

Jackson, MS - The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) advises residents of the following counties that they are eligible to apply for Disaster Assistance:

Adams, Amite, Attala, Claiborne, Choctaw, Clarke, Copiah, Covington, Forrest, Franklin, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Hinds, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Kemper, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Leake, Lincoln, Lowndes, Madison, Marion, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Pearl River, Perry Pike, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Smith, Stone, Walthall, Warren, Wayne, Wilkinson, Winston and Yazoo.

If you have not applied for assistance and have losses or damage from Hurricane Katrina, you are encouraged to call FEMA's toll-free registration number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or TTY 1-800-462-7585 to register for assistance.

If you live in one of the above listed counties and have applied for assistance, FEMA will begin processing your request for assistance, or you may also confirm or correct your application by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
