Population Viability of the San Pablo Song Sparrow in the North San Francisco Bay
Funds were obtained through the competitive Species-at-Risk Initiative. A cooperative agreement was developed with the University of California at Davis to bring a team approach to developing a population viability model for this candidate subspecies. We collected field data on song sparrow densities and distribution in the above project. A draft simulation model is being tested to project population viability of the San Pablo song sparrow and suggest appropriate management to maintain its populations. The model we develop in this project will be used to evaluate the population viability of the other two races of song sparrow in San Francisco Bay.
