CE Survey FormsInterviewComputer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) SurveyBeginning in April 2003, CE Interview Survey data have been collected via Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) which is used by a Census Bureau field representative to conduct the interview. Each household is interviewed every 3 months over 5 calendar quarters. In the initial interview, information is collected on demographic and family characteristics and on the inventory of major durable goods of the consumer unit. Expenditure information is collected in the second through fifth interview using uniform questionnaires. In the fifth interview, supplemental questions are asked to account for changes in assets and liabilities.

A Census Bureau field representative uses the CAPI instrument to collect information about the Diary Survey respondent household, including demographic characteristics and income.
