SKYWARN Recognition Day

WFO Riverton will be participating in the 6th annual SKYWARN Recognition Day to be held Friday, December 3rd and Saturday, December 4th.   HAM operators will be working Friday evening from approximately 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Please visit us at our special call sign W7Y and receive our specially designed QSL card.

SKYWARN Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARN radio operators make to the National Weather Service. During the day SKYWARN operators visit NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the world.

The National Weather Service wants to thank all SKYWARN Volunteers for participating in 2004 Severe Weather Operations.  The NWS particularly thanks volunteers who assisted during the record setting Florida hurricane season.

For more information on the event visit the official SKYWARN Recognition Day website.
