DOI Standard Position Descriptions
Starting in 2004, the Interagency Fire Program Management Program (IFPM) established interagency qualifications standards and Standard Position Descriptions for those wildland fire positions determined to be “key” fire positions as defined by the IFPM Standard. Therefore the National Park Service implemented the DOI policy which mandates using the DOI Standard Position Descriptions which apply to specified (those identified as “key”) fire management positions as listed in the IFPM guidance. The approved DOI position descriptions are identified by prefix in the position description number as “DOIXXXX.”
The DOI Standard Position Descriptions used only for IFPM positions can be found at: http://flert.nifc.gov/DOI_std_pds.htm. Use of the DOI position descriptions designates the position as an IFPM position and includes application of and compliance with the IFPM qualifications and deadlines. For clarification on use of the DOI Standard Position Descriptions please refer to DOI Personnel Bulletin 07-03, dated 5-29-07, and the FLERT website: http://flert.nifc.gov/index.htm. Information on recruiting for IFPM positions can be found on the IFPM website: http://www.ifpm.nifc.gov/.
NOTE: In 2004, not all positions involved with aspects of wildland fire were designated to be “key positions” and are therefore not included in the IFPM program. In these cases, NPS position descriptions listed below are used and IFPM qualifications and deadlines do not apply to these positions. The NPS standard position descriptions are designated with a “400” position number. Additional information about IFPM is available at: http://www.ifpm.nifc.gov/default.htm. |
