Ideas to Reduce Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders

Cable Ramp

Old Way:Heavy mining cables are manually lifted and hung to prevent damage resulting from mobile equipment running over them. Lifting of these heavy electrical cables has been shown to greatly increase the likelihood that a worker experiences a lost-time back injury.
New Way:Many mines are now using cable ramps such as those shown below. These ramps are lightweight and can be easily placed to protect the cables from the damage that may occur from being run over by mining equipment. These ramps can significantly reduce the need to lift and hang these heavy cables.
