The Grand Canyon Music Festival, 26th Session
Held at the South Rim's Shrine of the Ages, the 2009 season opens September 11th and 12th with the stringband ETHEL, the GCMF's Native American Composer Apprentice Project ensemble-in-residence. The Bonfiglio Group performs jazz and blues on September 18th, followed by festival founders Clare Hoffman and Robert Bonfiglio and friends on September 19th. The season concludes with the Enso String Quartet performing works by Ravel and Schumann on September 25th and 26th. Grand Canyon Celebration of Art

This major art show will provide an opportunity for park visitors to see the works of some of the best master artists in the nation as they seek to capture the beauty of the timeless Grand Canyon landscape on canvas.

The show opens to the public on September 19. 2009 and continues through November 1, 2009.

During the summer months temperatures within the Grand Canyon are extremely high. Plan your day so you are not hiking between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Take a break near shade and water to avoid the worst heat of day. Enjoy a predawn start and a late afternoon finish.
