Grand Canyon Sunrise/ Sunset Times and Moon Phases
The image on the right, is of the San Francisco Peaks about 60 miles southeast of the Grand Canyon, and just north of Flagstaff, Arizona. The San Francisco Peaks may be seen from both the North and South Rims of Grand Canyon National Park. This "live" shot comes from a video camera on the second floor of the Southwest Forest Science Complex on the campus of Northern Arizona University. The camera looks north over the city of Flagstaff. This camera records images during daylight hours only.

Mental attitude, adequate water and food consumption are absolutely essential to the success of any Grand Canyon hike. The day hiker and the overnight backpacker must be prepared for the lack of water, extreme heat and cold, and the isolation characteristic of the Grand Canyon.
